We have partnered with Petco Love Lost to easily help search the national lost and found database and create a searchable/shareable alert for your missing pet. Upload a picture of your pet to be able to search by location. Powered by facial recognition technology, Petco Love Lost helps match found animals to reported lost pets nationwide.
 If you have not already done so, be sure to register your pet on Petco Love Lost to take advantage of these remarkable tools and even print out ready made flyers.
Here are some steps you can take if you lose your pet:
- Ask people: Ask neighbors, children, mail carriers, and passersby if they've seen your pet.
- Create a flyer: Make a flyer with your pet's photo, a description, and your phone number. You can post flyers in the immediate area and up to a mile away.
- Post on Facebook/Nextdoor: A photo, description, area lost, and your phone number. Post not only on your personal page, but share it with every lost/found page for your area.
- Check shelters: Visit every animal shelter in the area that holds strays, even if you don't recognize the description. Check shelters daily and make a found pet report immediately.
- Contact vets: Call local veterinary clinics and send them a photo of your pet, as some people take lost pets to vets to see if they're microchipped.
- Report to police: If you suspect your pet was stolen, report it missing to the police.
- Check Facebook: Check your local shelters pages and any lost/found pages. Become a member, like and follow their pages.
The most important thing is visiting your local shelters every 2-3 days in person. They will not describe your dog the same way you do or even get the right breed or age, you must see the strays for yourself. Show them a picture.
